Staalsy spent most of his time playing with toys today.
He's getting really comfortable with the rest of the house and some of the other cats. The other cats are slowly warming up to him/getting used to him. Progress is progress and it's fantastic to see.
His eye has gotten bad again so there will be a call to the vet soon.
It snowed on Saturday and he spent most of that time watching the birds outside. When he wasn't watching the birds, he was curled up on my bed purring.
I have to say that having met Staalsy has really opened my eyes to a lot of things. It's weird, I can't explain it. He doesn't seem to know he's sick or even let it stop him from being this amazing little cat. He seems to know that he's not going to be put outside ever again and that he's safe as long as he's with me. It's hard to believe it's been nearly a month since I first saw his little face in the window and it scares me to think what would've happened to him had I not brought him inside.
This little guy is one of the centers of my world now. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Having a once stray cat myself, I really understand where you're coming from. It scares me to think where my baby Poco would be if we didn't decide to "let her stay" almost 5 years ago.
ReplyDeleteAnd also, you're a cat person, so I won't sound weird saying this...but I really think cats, in a weird way, are grateful for things we do for them, stray cats especially. They can seem ungrateful at times, but at the end of the day, I'm sure they appreciate having a warm bed to sleep in, especially cats who spent a good majority of their life outside.
I really enjoy it when you post about Staalsy on your LJ and stuff, and I wish the best for you both. He sounds like just the sweetest, most awesome cat ever. <3
I've always thought that stray cats more than any other are grateful for what you do for them. My other cats were mostly strays, but just little kittens when we took them in so they're no where near as grateful as Staalsy is. When they have to have meds, it's a battle. When Staalsy has to have meds, he takes them like a boss. Cleaning out the other cats eyes/ears is a hassle, Staalsy welcomes/loves it.
ReplyDeleteHe really is one of the most delightful cats I've ever known.
lmfao... i died when his back legs were getting all up in there trying to get the catnip.
